Nigerian-born British singer Sade Adu’s daughter, Ila Adu, has taken steps to medically transition to a man.
The singer’s only child made this announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, October 4. Ila shared photo after taking the first round of medication to successfully transition.
The caption read: “Today is the first day of the rest of my life 🌞💉 04/10/16,”
It included emojis of a sun and a syringe and the hashtags, “#shotday #firstshot #finally #ftm#selfmademan #transman #proud#yaaassss”
Ila has been posting stages of his journey on social media. First, he posted photos of himself in more manly clothes. He also cut his hair in preparation to fully becoming a man.
Born Mickailia Adu, Ila reportedly suffers from gender dysphoria, a condition where one psychologically and emotionally feels like the opposite of their biological sex.
Ila is Sade Adu’s only child with American-Jamaican music producer, Bob Morgan.
