Popular Port Harcourt gospel artist shot dead by unknown gunmen

Port Harcourt-based gospel artist, Godswill Adiks, popularly known as Will Adiks, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday night, December 21st. 

According to PUO Report, the handsome Minister was ambushed by gunmen at the Rivers State Axis of the East-West Road while returning back from a programme in Benin, Edo State.

He was rushed to the University Of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in Choba, where he was in coma for hours. On the evening of Thursday, December 22nd, he passed away. May his soul rest in peace, Amen. 

It was gathered that the gunmen had trailed his car,shot him at close range alongside his two guitarists, a case described as assassination. A tribute posted on Facebook, Jamy-Lee Pastor Jay, who said the deceased was her brother:

"I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. i think of you in silence, i often speak your name. all i have are memories and pictures in frame. your memory is a keepsake, from which i will never part. God has you in his arms. i have you in my heart. A thousand words won’t bring you back, I know because I’ve tried; neither will a thousand tears, I know because I’ve cried. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, i’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. A voice from a family is gone , a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in the home which never can be filled . I miss you Godwill . Could i just see you once again ? Have us sing together once again ? I dreamt of you last night you where so happy . I know your in a better place now . Singing and worshiping in heaven ..... till we meet again..... you said you would always have my back and protect me any way u can . I hope u keeping that promise now that your in heaven too . I Love You my brother Will Adiks . . You are forever in my heart and memories"

"September 6th 2013. The first time Will Adiks and I became friends... I saw him progress while I also help his ministry... I remember when he will come to me late at night in my church studio where I lived and beg me to burn some cds he will take to the place he was to perform the next day. God uplifted him and his songs grew to every length and breadth of south south and beyond. Last weekend while watching the performance of Travis Greene at the Experience 2016. I immediately wished that he will be given the opportunity at the next edition of the Experience to minister to hundred of thousands that will be in attendance. 13th December, 2016 was the last time we spoke on phone, I called him because the cab driver that was taking my wife and I home was playing some tracks from his album... I was even miming the songs to him, he laughed and said God bless you Joe. My dear friend Efe Dollar broke the news to me and I am so much in pains now. While discussing, I said, my prayer for him would be that he had reconcile with his maker before given up the ghost or If God knows he will go to the other side... then He should please by mercy resurrect him back and give him a second chance even though it was a gun incident because 'Adiks' as I fondly called him has inspire me and lots of people to even know HIM(GOD) better. Infact, I don't know what to write again. Adieu! my dear friend Adiks"

Wole Soyinka reportedly fulfills promise to tear US 'green card' over Donald Trump's election win

Nobel prize-winning author Wole Soyinka today revealed that he has fulfilled his pledge to throw away his US residency green card if Donald Trump won the presidential election.

"I have already done it, I have disengaged from the United States. I have done what I said I would do," Soyinka told AFP on the sidelines of an education conference at the University of Johannesburg. "I had a horror of what is to come with Trump... I threw away the (green) card, and I have relocated, and I'm back to where I have always been."

However, Soyinka said he would not discourage others from applying for a green card. "It's useful in many ways. I wouldn't for one single moment discourage any Nigerians or anybody from acquiring a green card... but I have had enough of it," he said.

NCC suspends planned hike in data tariff

Authorities of the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has suspended its plan to increase data tariff on all telecommunication networks with effect from tomorrow December 1st. A statement by the commission says the suspension is to allow for further consultation by all stakeholders.

Man injects his 11 month old son with HIV to kill him in order to avoid paying child support

Jealous student slits girlfriend's throat at Adamawa state polytechnic (Graphic Photos)

 

A student of the department of leisure and tourism of the Adamawa state polytechnic, Yola has been accused of slitting his girlfriend's throat out of jealousy. The girlfriend, Ishaya, a diploma 2 student of same department, is presently at the specialist hospital Yola. 

According to Facebook user, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu who shared the story, the boyfriend simply identified as "presido" is an extra year student of the polytechnic. He wrote: 

On the faithful day "presido" saw his girlfriend Ishaya alighting from somebody's car, where he suspected that the car owner snatched his girlfriend. On seeing the girlfriend coming out of someone's car, he ambushed her very close to the female hostel of the polytechnic popularly known as "gollans" ,after beating her, he used a knife on her throat in an attempt to butcher her. Some students who heard her wailing came to her rescue, though she survived it but she is in a critical condition.

Cook of NNPC Managing Director, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue absconds with $6m in cash and jewelry

A chef who worked for a Managing Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mrs Esther Nnadi-Ogbue, has absconded with cash and pieces of jewelry worth $6million, according to Sahara Reporters.

The man, identified as Gabel Segbedji, a Benin Republic national took off with the loot in a Toyota Camry car which also belonged to her boss, last Wednesday.

 Segbedji was reportedly recommended for employment by her close friend, Toke Benson. Mrs Nnamdi-Ogbue, whose daughter is set to wed later this month in London, is said to be totally devastated by the theft but didn't report it to the police.

Beauty Pageant Organiser in Bayelsa Arrested for Allegedly Raping One of his Contestants

The Police in Bayelsa State has arrested a Beauty Pageant Organiser, Ambassador Richard Franklin, for allegedly abusing a teenage model sexually.

Ambassador Richard, organiser of the Bayelsa Kiddies Pageant BKP is alleged to be a serial rapist of potential models and beauty contestants and his escapades are said to have being reported to police divisions in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, with non of the victims pushing for prosecution until he met with his waterloo.

The victim‎ Ebi Gesiere, an indigene of Ammassoma community in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa State, narrated that on September 25, she secured a form to contest the Miss Bayelsa Teen pageant and the Miss Tourism Pageant. That during the audition, she met the manager of the event, Richard Franklin who asked her to meet him at his office situated at Opili Plaza near the NUJ press centre for a photo shoot.

She further said that despite her schedule to attend her church service, she went, and on getting to the place, he locked the door and asked her to pull her clothes and put on another for the photo shoot.

“When I pulled, he asked me to pull my undies but I declined."
“He hit me with iron rod and threatened to throw me from the three story building."
“He threatened to lock me in and hand me over to boys to defile me. He later had his way with the iron rod pointed close to my eyes,”
the victim was quoted as saying.

The suspect was arrested outside Skippers Fast Food close to Hospital Junction in the heart of Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital.

The suspected rapist was said to have been arrested following a petition filed by the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, led by Barr. Dise Ogbise Erhisere after the victims mother went to them for help.

Investigations carried out by the FIDA further showed that though the police divisions in the state had received series of petitions bordering on rape and assault against Franklin, some senior police officers had reportedly covered up the investigation and allowed him walk free with the aledged rapist bragging about it to his victims.

Abia state University fresh graduate stabbed to death by security guard in Uturu

 

A fresh graduate from Abia State University Uturu, was stabbed to death by a gateman attached to one of the lodge around the school yesterday November 1st. 

According to Abia Facts Newspaper, the deceased identified as Max who graduated recently and celebrated his birthday on 25th October, 2016, had on the day of the incident, visited one of the lodge around the University, apparently to settle some scores with some students living there. 

A heated argument ensued and the security guard attached to the private lodge requested that Max leave  the environment probably due to the confusion he was creating. This got Max angry and they started fighting. Max picked up a rod which he used to hit and tear the stomach of the gateman to the extent that his intestines almost fell off. 

In anger, the gateman ran into his apartment with his hand holding his torn stomach, picked up his dagger and stabbed Max to death. 

The gateman is currently in a critical condition receiving treatment, while Max is in the mortuary.

Thief leaves apology note behind after breaking into to car just for chocolate



Some things just aren't worth the trouble but for one determined fellow, a bar of KitKat was enough reason to risk arrest. The cheeky culprit broke into a car just to help themselves to a bar of KitKat and was thoughtful enough to leave an apology note behind. The note which was shared by a Kansas State University student read:

“Saw Kit Kat in your cup holder. I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit-Kat. I am sorry and hungry".

Reverend gives reasons why no man can satisfy any woman sexually on this earth

Ghanaian prominent radio and television relationship counselor, Rev. George Lutterodt has revealed the reasons why no man would be able to satisfy any woman sexually on this earth. Speaking recently in an interview with the host of Abusua FM’s Drive, Ike-Da Unpredictable, the Maverick Counselor, explained that women are full of pretence when it comes to satisfying them in bed, he says they would only appreciate men for time wasting by faking loud moaning to deceive them. President Jacob Zuma has torched a storm after he said South Africans battling to find jobs must join MMM.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Limpopo over the weekend, the president shocked attendees when he encouraged them to join the embattled scheme.

Lagos state govt to employ 1000 graduates as bus conductors, puts them on N50k salary

Lagos state Ministry of Transportation in conjunction with the Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria, BCAN, plans to employ 1000 graduates as bus conductors in the state. President of BCAN, Comrade Israel Ade Adeshola said their association and the state government is working towards making the Bus Conducting profession one for only trained bus conductors and also make it more lucrative and attractive. 
In an interview with Vanguard, Adeshola said 

"Presently Lagos state government through the Lagos State Drivers Institute, LASDRI is training and accrediting conductors in the state, adding that after the training the graduands would be employed as Bus Conductors and would be on the payroll of the government with a salary worth of N50,000 per month. The objective is to make the job of bus conducting attractive, respected and dignified as obtainable globally”.

Man confesses to killing his girlfriend because she said no to his marriage proposal

 

43 year old Jason Eaton walked into an Indiana Police station on Tuesday October 25 & told officers that he had killed his girlfriend, Wendy Sabatini. And when police went to Wendy's home, they found her dead in her bedroom. She'd been shot in the head. Asked why he killed his girlfriend, Jason told police that he'd proposed to Wendy in the bedroom with an engagement ring and she said no.

Jason told police, in anger, he retrieved her gun from a nightstand and shot her in the head from behind. He then went to a mutual friend's house to confess to what he had done. The friend then accompanied to the police station to confess and surrender.

Millionaire activist James Otis arrested for destroying Donald Trump's $30k Hollywood Walk of Fame star

The millionaire activist who admitted to smashing up Donald Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been arrested, but also now bailed. James Otis, 52, destroyed Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which was awarded to him in 2007, with a pick-ax after dressing up as a construction worker to fool anyone walking past. 

 Otis spoke to the media about his arrest outside of the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center when he was released from jail on $20,000 bail. According to him, he did it to show support for women who have accused Trump of groping them. 

'He's a serial liar and misogynist and that's why we're here: to try to address that and help those women who told Mr. Trump they won't stand for it anymore,' Otis said.

The authorities have stated that Otis was arrested for felony vandalism and is due in court on November 18. The charge could earn him three years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

2 men rescue suspected wizard who fell on Sapele River, claim it's family affair

Two men have reportedly picked up the man who accidentally crashed into the Ajogodo River, in Sapele, Delta State yesterday, after his supposedly ‘private jet-coven’ ran out of fuel; claiming they are family members of the self-confessed wizard. 

According to Vanguard, the two men came yesterday and pleaded with restless residents, who wanted to set him ablaze, saying; “we are from Idjerhe (Jesse) in Ethiope West LGA of Delta State. He is our brother. 

He is a driver by profession and plies daily his taxi along the Benin/Sapele dual carriage way. He lives in Benin mostly. We heard about the incident through the news making the round. We came here to confirm it and it is true. Please we want you people to release him for us to take him home, because he now appears very weak.” 

The family members, believed to be in their 60s, refused to disclose their names and also state the man’s marital status. They maintained 

“this is our private family affair. We are not going to tell you people any more information about our brother.” They reportedly zoomed off with him in an ash-coloured Toyota Camry car without number plates, at about 10a.m.

The self-confessed wizard was heard saying “I was not alone on the journey. There were others with their private jets, but luck ran against me when my fuel finished. The others are in UK now.”

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has cautioned people to stop misrepresenting the importance of festivals and dieties celebrated in the ancient city of Ile-Ife and all parts of Africa. 

Speaking at the 2016 celebration of Oranfe the god of fire in Ile Ife, Osun state yesterday Oct. 26th, the Ooni said that some of the dieties being worshiped in Africa have their roots in holy books like the Bible and Quran.  

  

He lamented that many people failed to promote the positive aspects of the yoruba and African festivals due to slavish mentality and over-Westernization. According to him, no human being can survive without what the dieties represent.‎ 

"Our people really need to be enlightened. A lot of these festivals have been misconstrued, misrepresented and demonized as if we are idol worshippers. We are not idol worshippers. We are rather believers in nature. ‎I am not saying the commandments of God should not be adhered to, but we must know that all these dieties are messengers of God. They represent nature. Nothing can be done without nature regardless of our religion be it Islam or Christianity or even traditional. We only honour nature because we are all integra part of it, and not worship idols. Some of the dieties we worship have roots in the holy books.
